19/11/2014: New executive structure in BioMar Group

As announced in September Carlos Diaz formally took over the position as CEO in the BioMar Group on November 14, 2014. He used the occasion to announce a new executive structure, which will enable BioMar to strengthen further its value proposition to customers globally.

“The new BioMar Management Team will focus on delivering a strong global value proposition tailored to our customer’s needs in all the different environments where they are operating”, expressed Carlos Diaz.

The new team will consist of an Executive Committee composed by Carlos Diaz, CEO, and Mogens Stentebjerg, CFO, and interacting with a Management Team comprised by the heads of BioMar’s three market regions and key global functions including Research & Development, Marketing, Sourcing & Business Relations, and HR.

“The new team is a very operational team with strong roots in the market areas complemented by functional directors supervising that we cross utilize product innovations and concepts as well as organizational competences between regions. We want to continue to be close to our customers and at the same time we want strengthen our capability of fast development and commercialization of innovative feed concepts and products worldwide through a well-coordinated effort” said Carlos Diaz.

Carlos Diaz emphasized, that BioMar traditionally has had a major strength with a relatively decentralized structure. “We want to keep that, but seen in the light of more globalized customers and BioMar’s ambitious expansion plans into new market areas one of the main tasks of the new Global Management Team will be to ensure that innovations are brought faster to the markets and especially rolled out across markets globally,” he said.

Carlos Diaz explained that new structure has been created with strong candidates from BioMar’s internal leadership pipeline: “We have appointed the Managing Director of our very successful Baltic business unit, Ole Christensen, as new Vice President of Continental Europe and the Managing Director of the important Chilean operation, Martín León, as new Vice President of Americas.

Jan Sverre Røsstad continues as Vice President of BioMar’s North Sea region. Hence all regions will be headed by strong leaders both facilitating local results and global cross utilization.” The other new faces in the Management Team are Patrick Campbell, Global R&D Director, Henrik Aarestrup, Global Marketing Director, and Sif Rishoej, Global HR Director, while Niels Alsted continues as Vice President with responsibility for Global Sourcing and Business Relations.

The BioMar Group last year had a turnover of 1.2 billion EUR and an EBIT of 55 million EUR. Production takes place at 11 factories across Europe and America, and earlier this year BioMar announced that it will open a new feed plant in Turkey in 2015 in a Joint-Venture with a local Turkish seafood company.
