Five working catamarans for Norwegian aquaculture

Bergen Group has, through its subsidiary Bergen Group Risnes AS, received contracts for delivering five working catamarans for the aquaculture industry. The contracts have a total value of NOK 24 million, (UK£ 2.56 million) and generate work for Bergen Group Risnes through the first half of 2011.

Four of the working catamarans will be delivered to Mainstream Norway AS (a subsidiary of Cermaq ASA) and one is going to Firda Sjøfarmer AS. The deliveries will take place in the first and second quarter of 2011. Both these fish farming companies are among the leaders in the aquaculture industry in Norway.

The five working catamarans are all 12.5m long and are improved versions of the company's standard catamaran for the aquaculture industry. These boats have in the recent decades been a market leader in the working boat segment within the aquaculture industry, and Bergen Group Risnes has over the years built and delivered a total of 178 similar boats for deliveries to Norway, Scotland and Shetland.
